Overview

The Notification Resource displays text that is anchored to where the learner is looking. This text will disappear after 5 seconds. It provides the learner with immediate feedback that cannot be avoided since it follows their gaze.

Specifies the body text that is displayed to the learner.

Anchors

Specifies the object that the resource is attached to.

By default, it will follow the gaze of the learner.

Title

Specifies the title text that is displayed to the learner.

Sound

Specifies the sound that is played when the notification appears.

Image

Specifies the image that is displayed to the learner.

Vibrate

Specifies if the learner's controller vibrates when the notification appears, if applicable.

Timer

Specifies delay and time of day settings.

Priority

Specifies how high the priority of the Notification is.

If multiple Notifications are used at the same time, the highest priority action will take effect.

  • Normal: Normal order.

  • High: Next in the queue behind the item that needs to finish.

  • Filler: Will play item if nothing has been played in a while, otherwise, doesn't play at all.

  • Interrupt: Stops what is currently playing and plays immediately.

What if I can’t see the Notfication in the Headset unless I look to the side/elsewhere in the Environment?

If no Anchor is assigned, a Notification will appear a certain distance in front of the user and stay locked to their field of few for a few seconds. This can lead to a situation with objects in the environment where you can’t see the Notification (but it can be helpful in the right circumstance.)

To address this you can:

  • Change the location of a Notification. You can assign an anchor to the Notification Resource so it appears in a specific location instead of being locked to the field of view of the user.

  • An Assembler can add colliders to the object via the SDK, then you should see the Notification.
