Using Launch Pad to Launch Apps
Motive Launch Pad gives your Learners easy access to all of your XR content. Launch Pad can be run in two modes:
Shared Mode is used for deployments where many users are expected to share headsets. In Shared Mode, the user only sees a Launch Input where they can enter a 6-digit Launch Code given to them by Launch Server or their LMS.
Individual Mode is generally used when users will use the same headset for a longer period of time. In Individual Mode, users log into Launch Pad directly and see a dashboard of modules that are assigned to them. Note that Individual Mode also supports Launch Codes to streamline access to content via LMS.
Note that Launch Pad does not currently download and install APKs. The APK needs to be installed on the device for Launch Pad to be able to launch it.
Step 1: Install the Launch Pad APK
Install the Motive Launch Pad APK via Sidequest, App Lab, or your MDM.
Step 2: Provision Launch Pad
Choose Region
In multi-region setups, you first choose the region. Currently Motive Cloud supports two regions: Canada Central and US West.
Once you’ve selected your region, the next page connects Launch Pad to your account in either Shared or Individual Mode.
Shared Mode
Choose “Provision Device”.
You will see 9-digit code that you can use to connect Launch Pad to your Organization in Motive XMS.
Navigate to the Devices section of Launch to provision your device
Note that this device provisioning is different than provisioning via Storyflow. Make sure to provision the device in Launch for use with Launch Pad.
If you encounter an error while provisioning, your code may have expired. In this case back out of this screen and click “Provision” to generate a new code.
When the app is provisioned, you will switch to the Launch Code Input screen:
Individual Mode
Choose a User Login option
“In Headset” lets you log in directly in the headset. You will be directed to the Motive login page to enter your credentials.
“Desktop or Mobile” lets you use a code to login on the web on a desktop or mobile. This avoids having to enter a username/password using the headset keyboard. It also allows you to use more sophisticated SSO options like hardware keys.
Desktop or Mobile login is not currently available in Cloud. This will be supported in an upcoming version.
You will be directed to your Modules screen. This screen shows any Modules that have been assigned to you in Launch Server. Simply click any Module to get started.
Note that you can still use a Launch Code by clicking the “Enter Launch Code” button at the top of the app.
Step 3: Configure an Application in Launch
The example here explains how to set up an Application and Launch Module:
Configuring a Launch Module for LSDK
Step 4: Generate a Launch Code
Once the app is configured, you can launch any app using a Launch Code connected to the Module you created above.
