How do you use XR Editor?
Step 1: Opening XR Editor
Use your headset to open your APK
Select the project that contains the anchor you wish to modify.
NOTE: do not choose a specific scenario. The XR editor window will become unavailable to you
Use the flat button with three lines on your left controller to open up this menu:
From this window, select the Admin button, which will direct you to a second menu:
Select XR Editor from this menu:
Step 2: Selecting an anchor
After opening the XR editor, choose the anchor you wish to move. This can be done one of two ways:
Using Catalogs: Selecting this option will allow you to browse your project’s catalogs and find the anchor that you wish to edit.
Using Scripts: If you are looking to modify a component of a certain script, select the script menu to choose from all anchors and assets available in that script.
Select the desired anchor in either of the menus above to modify its position. If you wish to modify more than one anchor, select that one as well, and it will be visible in the VR space alongside the others. After you have selected your anchors, you may close the Catalog/Script Menu using the X in the top right corner. If you wish to reaccess the anchor selection menu, click the flat button on your controller again and click the “Select Object To Edit” button. This will bring you back to the original menu.
Step 3: Moving the anchor
After selecting your anchor(s), open the editing menu by turning either of your wrists so your palm faces upwards. At the top of the menu, you can see the anchor name you are currently editing; the physical anchor will also be highlighted in green. This menu will allow you to change the location of your anchor in two different ways:
Linear Displacement: If you select “move,” the object can be moved along the XYZ axes. If you also select the axis you want to move along, the anchor will be locked to move in that direction. This helps to keep your object level.
Rotational Displacement: When you select “rotate,” the object can be rotated around any of the three axes, allowing for full spherical displacement. If you wish to rotate it over a specific axis, select that axis, and the rotation will be locked for the other two directions.
If you want to move the anchor freely, select both the move/rotate checkboxes and deselect all constraints set on the anchor.
If you want to switch between the anchors you are editing, use the arrows at the top right and left to scroll through the options you have selected from the Catalog/Script Menu:
After placing the anchor in its desired location, click the save icon at the bottom of the menu to save your changes.
Other XR Editor Functions:
XR editor includes other capabilities beyond linear and rotational displacement. These include:
Move to front: Use this tool to bring your anchor or asset to you. It will move the anchor from wherever it is placed in the scenario to in front of you at eye level.
Reset: This tool allows you to Reset the anchor or asset to its last saved position.
Gravity: The gravity selection can be turned on or off. It will simulate the effects of gravity on your anchor/asset. Note that your scene elements need colliders to behave like solid objects.
