About Launchers

The Launchers feature allows you to create a manual Launcher so that a learner can access a training module. This is used if you are not using a LMS integration. If you would like to distribute content through an LMS, launch codes get generated automatically. The learner would instead see the launch code when they start their LMS training:

A Launcher connects a Module to a 6 digit launch code. When the launch code is used to launch the training module in the headset, the data collected is connected to the learner specified in the Launcher.

Typically, Launchers are used for testing purposes and we recommend using the LMS integration to generate launch codes within the LMS.

Create a Launcher

Only individuals with the Launch Organization Admin or Launch Organization Member can complete these steps

Ensure that the Module for the appropriate training has already been completed before proceeding.

  1. Login to Motive

You should be viewing the HUB area that displays the areas you have permissions to access. This can include Launch, Storyflow and Manage Organization. In the example below, we are logged into the account for the company Lakeview Inc. and the individual accessing HUB has permissions for all three areas:

Note: If you do not see an image similar to the above, click on your initials on the top right of the screen and choose HUB.

2. Select Launch

3. Choose the appropriate organization from top left dropdown if there is more than one

4. Click on Launchers in the left menu

5. Click Create Launcher

6. Click the dropdown next to Launch Config and choose the Module

7. Click the dropdown next to Learner and choose the learner you want to generate the code for

8. Fill in optional fields:

Is Single Use: Only use the launch code one time.

Max Usage Amount: Determine the number of times the code is active until it is expired. This can be particularly helpful in managing your session numbers.

If Single Use and Max Usage Amount details are not set, the launch code will be active an unlimited amount of times.

9. Create

You will now see the Launcher for the specific Learner in the list:

Using the Launch Code

Once you have the launch code, the learner would follow these steps:

Device Authentication

1. Put on headset and log into VR training

2. Click on Connect:

3. Take down the code:

4. Navigate to the URL and enter the code.

5. The Launch Experience Menu should now appear.

Enter the Launch Code

5. Take the 6 digit Launch Code as discussed previously in this article, and enter it into the screen in the headset:

Training can now proceed.
