Training Notes
In this tutorial, we will introduce conversations to our scenario.
Step 1: Create a "Conversation" Script
We are going to put all our conversations in a new script.
Create a new script called "Conversation".
Step 2: Add it to the Director Script
Open the Director Script.
Create a new frame in the Director Script called "Conversation".
Add the Conversation script to that frame by dragging it in from the script catalog.
Save the script.
Step 3: Add Your Character to the Script
Open the Conversation script and ensure it is the active script.
Open catalogs by clicking on the folder icon on the far right:
Under "Named Objects", click on "Characters".
Drag your chosen character from the "Characters" catalog into your frame. In this tutorial, we chose to use the "Stacey" character, so we will drag "Stacey" into the frame.
Re-name this frame "Scene Objects".
Step 4: Add a Character Dialog Resource
With the "Conversation" script still open, create a new top-level frame.
Re-name the frame "Stacey greets user".
Under Resources, search for Dialog.
Drag and drop the Dialog resource into your frame.
Under "Character", choose the character you previously determined.
Under Dialog - Audio, click on "+".
Choose either Female or Male Dialog.
Choose the Greeting Boss file.
STOP: Save and Test in the headset. When you play the scenario, your character will speak. They will speak as soon as the scenario starts. It would be better if they spoke after the initial notification.

If you don't have pre-recorded sound files for your character's lines, you can use our text-to-speech feature. This is a great tool for rapid prototyping and can help you build out and finalize your scenario for timing and content before having a voice actor record the lines. Click here for more details.
