Create a Backup

Before progressing, ensure that you understand when to use a Bundle and when to use a Backup.

These steps will allow you to create a backup file of your Storyflow Project that you can then save to your computer for a secure backup, or you can then take this Backup and create a duplicate copy in a new Project.

...

Once complete, you will see the Backup Restored by navigating to the Home Dashboard in Storyflow and looking at the Scripts/Catalogs/etc.

Common Troubleshooting

Issue: When I upload the file to restore, I see an error message “Caution: This backup file may not be correctly formatted. Proceed only if you are sure.”

...

This is caused by one of two things:

  • You renamed your backup and removed the word “backup” from the file name

  • You are trying to Restore a Bundle or another file

Troubleshooting steps to try in order:

  1. Check to make sure the file is a Backup file - not a Bundle and continue

Issue:  My Restore/Backup did not work

...

  1. Do not click the Backup/Bundle/Restore button multiple times

  2. Wait 5 minutes then refresh your browser and check again

  3. Ensure you have the correct permissions - example: you cannot Restore Backups without the Workspace Permission “Admin” (see this article)

  4. Contact Motive Support with any details/error messages
