Overview
The Look At resource Resource positions a character towards a target. This resource Resource is a type of Character Action.

Character | Specifies the character doing the looking. |
Target | Specifies the |
Scene object that the character looks at. Note: If you leave this field blank the character will look at the learner. |
Optional Fields

Transition Duration | Specifies how long the transition is into the Look At animation. |
Look Amount | *Total look amount multiplier for the rest of the settings (between 0 and 1 - one being strongest). |
Body Weight | *Amount body turns toward the target. |
Head Weight | *Amount head turns toward the target. |
Eyes Weight | *Amount eyes turn toward the target. |
Hold Duration | Specifies how long the character holds its gaze. |
Exit Duration | Specifies how long the character transitions out of its gaze. |
Priority | Gives action priority if there is more than one. |
*Training Tip: Character’s Body
If you leave the Target blank and have the character look at the learner, then as the leaner moves around in the Scene the character’s gaze will follow. The character’s body will turn to follow unless you set the field to 0. We suggest setting the body to 0 or 0.1 and testing by moving around the scene as the character tracks you.

Training Tip: Look At Events
If you leave the Target blank and have the character look at the learner, if the Script closes the Look At Resource will stop. If you want it to continue, don’t close the Script it is located in. On the flip side, if you want the Look At action to stop, and you don’t want to close the Script, you can use a Deactivate Resource.
Example in the Headset
In the Workshop sceneOffice environment, I want Ted the character Chad to look at the speaker for a few seconds.
In the Scene Objects frame, I've added the speaker as an object using the Scene Object resource:

Next, ensure the character (Ted) is spawned.
Add the Look At resource to a frame.
Add Ted as the character.
Set the Target; in this case the speaker.
Determine Body/Head/Eyes weight by testing (optional).
Determine Hold Duration (optional):

In the headset, you'll see the position of Ted and the music speaker. Ted will look at the speaker for 3 seconds and then stop looking.

As Chad is a character, I will use the Spawn Asset Resource first to spawn him into the Scene
In the Script where you will add the Look At Resource, add the character in as a Scene Object:

In the next Frame, I’ve added the Look At Resource
Character = Chad

We are leaving Look At blank so that Chad looks at the learner. I’ve also set the Eyes and Body Weight (optional):

In my Scenario I’ve also added a Screen Message to let the learner know what the Scene is about and I’ve added an Apply Effect Resource to have Chad stand up from the chair and used the Facial Expression Resource to make Chad look angry.
In the headset we’ve captured what it would look like before and after using the Look At Resource so that you can see the difference. In the “After” version, note that Chad is still looking at the learner when he is sitting down as well as standing up:
